Rapunzel is the classic childhood story about a medieval princess who has been locked away in a tower by her evil witch mother. The witch forces Rapunzel's hair to grow so long it obscures her view of the outside world and she can no longer see practicality. Eventually, Rapunzel meets Pascal who helps rescue her from her imprisonment and they live happily ever after...This is not one of those stories. Barbie as Rapunzel: A Creative Adventure is a computer game that follows much more recent events than any children’s storybook you might have read as a kid. Barbie as Rapunzel is a video game for children by children, and follows a fresh and interesting premise. The developers have a clear vision for a new kind of Barbie game based on the original fairy tale.The story begins in 2010 as Barbie’s career as a pop star comes to an end. After losing her sponsorship from Ken, Barbie quits the music scene to take up full-time residence as Rapunzel’s long lost twin sister, Lilli Bergmann. In this role as Rapunzel’s caretaker, Lilli inherits all of Rapunzel’s responsibilities although she does not receive any royalties for her likeness (these are held in trust by Ken). When Lilli first arrives at the tower, her new career is not well received by the other members of the royal family. Queen Arianna is hesitant about bringing a new person into the royal household, especially one who has just become an unemployed rock star. The two eventually come to an agreement that Lilli will be allowed to stay in Rapunzel’s tower as long as she follows a few simple rules that keep her out of trouble. However, there are other challenges that Lilli must face during her time as Rapunzel's caretaker and she will need to draw upon all of her creative and intellectual abilities if she hopes to succeed. This game brings on a new play on Barbie as Rapunzel, who usually is known for her beauty. The player, who controls Lilli through the game, must help her fit in with society, while also solve problems relating to Rapunzel’s social life. The problems that arise are usually of an adult nature. These may include arguments between Rapunzel and King Frederick or arguments between Rapunzel and Prince James. The player must offer advice to help resolve these situations.Furthermore, while playing Lilli’s role as Prince James’ manager she must assist him with his music career. This has proven to be harder than expected due to his lack of motivation and desire to find a girlfriend. The player must come up with ideas to make him more marketable. As the game progresses Lilli learns how to conduct herself in her new role. She is forced to make hard decisions on some occasions, including whether or not to get involved in Rapunzel’s affairs. Ultimately, she must find her own individuality while still living under the terms of the royal family.Lilli is Barbie’s younger twin sister who has become famous for her music career. She appears in full makeup and her hair is styled into long curls of varying shades of yellow and gold.
